Fished from 6am to 11am and caught a lot of crappies on Tonka this morning. Got them on minnows, tubes and marabou jigs. I fished one small bay and had several spots within the bay that turned on at different times. Ended up getting several fish between 10 and 11 inches but couldn't break the 11 inch mark. I stopped in at Fletcher's at 11:15 and the leading crappie at that time was only 12 ounces. It sounds like a 1 pound 2 oz crappie was enough for first place this year. The fishing in general is definitely improving and the next couple of weeks should be really good.

It's been pretty slow but things are starting to get better. The crappies are finally starting to head shallow in some of the traditional areas but a lot of fish are still hanging in a little deeper water.

Spent the day on Mille Lacs chasing perch. Fished six spots and drilled about fifty holes with no success. Heading to my last spot I was losing motivation thinking I had missed out on the bite for the day.

Traveled to Mille Lacs on Saturday AM in the rain/sleet on my way to the Brainerd area. Hearing that the perch, walleyes and tulibees were biting i had to try it for a few hours. Found a few decent perch and a tuli in 30' of water off one of the flats but didn't have enough time to figure anything out.

Finally made it out on Tonka chasing after some walleyes. We set up on a rock finger that I had marked this summer while bass fishing. Whenever I find something that looks good for walleyes while prefishing I always try to put an icon on it.
