Upcoming Video Shoots

This weekend is the Minnesota Fishing Opener. I will be filming panfish action all weekend and I also will be filming some walleye fishing. All action will be filmed in Douglas and Otter Tail Counties. Watch the videos because a double secret spot just may be given away.

Well with only a few days remaining in August, the fishing seems to be heating up. In the last week or so with the cooler night temperatures, water temps have started to cool and the muskie fishing at least for us has been much better. Last week we landed a nice fish that will be featured on our “Topwater Muskies DVD Vol. 1” which is set for release around the end of September. While the night fishing has been slower then anticipated, the last few nights have provided more action and the promise of a good late summer bite. Bass fishing has also been very hit or miss all month. With the cooler temperatures and dying vegetation bass location will get more predictable throughout September and one of my favorite bites (topwater pad fishing) will be in going strong! The walleye bite has slowed from being completely on fire through out June and early July but seems to be picking up as well. In addition to our normal weekly filming we are continuing work on some other DVD releases including; Seasonal Approaches for Largemouth Bass, Night Fishing for Muskies and Hunting Giant Fall Muskies. Please continue to check back regularly as September promises to be a great fishing month and as always, please feel free to drop us an email or leave a comment with any questions you may have.

Looking at the weather forecast for the next few days, 80 to 90 degrees is what we can expect along with no precipitation in site. Awesome ... classic muskie weather right? Well, not exactly. Not only is it not good muskie weather, it’s about the worst muskie weather possible. Throw in the fact that everyone with a speedboat or jet ski seems to be on vacation for the next month and you have very limited daylight muskie windows most days. One way to get around the high lake use, bluebird skies, and 90-degree weather is to night fish.

Minnesota Bass and Wisconsin Muskie opener is this weekend and only a week away is the Minnesota Muskie opener.  Muskie season, my favorite opener! Pete Riola, Eric Peterson and Jason Van Ert are currently up in Canoe Country chasing huge smallmouth and should have some new footage next week.  They always seem to get a big pike, walleye and even a lake trout or two so check back next week for that action.  With muskie season finally here, we will be out next week and especially for the Minnesota season opener week chasing ski’s so stop back and see what we can put into the boat.  Finally we will be heading to Mille Lacs in the next week or so chasing the huge smallies found living on its many rock reefs.  Seven-pound fish are not out of the question and we will do our best to get one on camera.
