Anyone out there ever fish White Bass thru the ice? I've heard some of the backwaters by Fort Snelling is a viable option?

White Bass?
I may go the rest of my life never specifically targeting white bass through the ice! with the state record weighing in at just over 4lb's I would rather slam my head in the door than freeze My a$$ off targeting the black sheep off the Bass family!

white bass rule
The best part about ice fishing white bass is you normally have the place to yourself so you can listen to your "WHAM'S greatest hits tape" as loud as you want!

I have actually fished
I have actually fished whites through the ice, and was pretty fun.  the fish we caught averaged about 2 lbs, and we caught some big crappies and small walleyes mixed in.  We fished in a small backwater that is between the Miss and Pigs eye lake.  We parked near North Star Steel and walked across the lake and through a small patch of woods to reach where we actually fished.  The water in the backwater gets to about 20' and we fished in the deepest part, near the river.  Good luck.

A person would have to drive
A person would have to drive down there and check it out.  I looked on google earth to try to figure out where we parked , and I couldn't tell from that, but with a good gps you could probably figure it out.
