When tip up fishing for Pike what is the best approach for the hook set? I have seen it all on the ice, from the guys that sprint to the tip up to the guy who casually strolls over to it and stares at it forever before making a move. I have spent the last couple of seasons Fishing With an Underwater camera and it has altered my approach. After having seen the fish strike and take the bait I have found that I have about a 70% hook ratio when setting the hook while the fish is running. I Rarely get a hook up when I sit and wait for them to stop. Is there a better approach out there that can increase my hook ups?
