DOA Marcum
Yep. That particular Marcum was DOA. It powered up but didn't transmit a signal what so ever. Unfortunate.

Sorry to hear that
Every Marcum I have owned has been very good to me. I guess there will be one or two that gets loose; we are all not mistake free.

hrbrtj, sounds like your
hrbrtj, sounds like your still in love with your vex so why did you sell it? You said you forgot your Marcum and then the one you bought to get you by didn't work. I think I hear a fish story. I think your a vex user looking to bash Marcum products. If you didn't leave your flasher at home would you be bashing Marcum? No. Anyone that has used a Marcum knows how well they work and would not be giving kodo's to vex because there is no comparison. That's why I think this is a fish story.
To make a rather long story short, my MarCum failed me, but Mr. Donelan did not.
After forgetting my MarCum flasher at home and then purchasing a "stand-in" that didn't work out of the box (what are the chances?), the solution to my problem came down to who I knew. I'd like to thank Pat Donelan for the use of his old, reliable Vexilar FL8. If there's ever a reason not to let go of your old equipment, last week's experience was testiment.
As I sat there, a mile out on the ice and fishing nearly blind, my fishing partner Jason Van Ert had the insight to make a call to Pat hoping he'd have some insight as to where I could, again, find another "stand-in" flasher. Low and behold his trusty old FL8 was available at his cabin, not far from the lake we were on.
Again, many thanks Pat Donelan. That relic saved my weekend on the ice; and by the way, it still works like new. I'll be sure to thank him again as I sit down for the delicious Walleye dinner he made possible.
