Last Thursday June 1 we fished Metro Mpls/St Paul for largemouth and the key for the day was don't move the bait.

Many times largemouth don't want to chase bait but that pattern is more prevelent just after the fish have spanwed. I'm under the belief that the fish in this particular lake finished spawning a week or so ago...about May 25-28 and the fish were basically recouperating in the shallows before they start moving to their summer locations. These fish could be caught by casting light jigs to the inside weed edge or we could catch them in shallow emergent weed pockets. The main thing was to be patient and let the fish find the lure. Once they found our baits they ate it. I'm betting you can make this tactic work for you on almost any body of water that has the largemouth leaving the spawning grounds. We caught and released numerous bass including this one http://www.fishfever.com/node/139.

Next up Mille Lacs for smallies and maybe a giant crappie.
