With the extra warm spring we have had in the upper Midwest, we were definitely looking forward to this year’s Wisconsin bass opener. We felt that the warm weather and sun would give us a better shot at some real big fish and we were right. Jon Marhall and I were on the water from around 10:00 am to 5:30 pm and landed around 20 bass. Most of the fish were in the 14” to 18” range and I was lucky enough to land a 20.5-inch fish (featured in the video now playing) and a huge 22-incher. Unfortunately the video camera was not rolling on the 22-incher but we did get some nice photos.  (See the attached images) All of our fish were caught on All-Terrain rattle jigs ¼ oz size in black/blue color scheme tipped with a blue craw. The fish were pre-spawn and not yet tight to the bank or on beds but holding just off in 3 to 8 feet of water. Those of you on the water Saturday know how hard the wind was blowing and many of our best areas were very tough to fish. While 20 fish is respectable, I think we can do better on our next outing. We are heading back in the next week and will have the cameras rolling non-stop to hopefully get a bigger one, hook set to landing. Also the topwater bite should pick up and maybe we can get some big surface strikes! Chris Munchow
